Sustainability and environmental protection
We share responsibility for our environment together with you. Please help us to minimise pollution as much as possible.
Water: It is sometimes thought that here in Germany we have an unlimited supply of this important resource. The first problems in supplying the cities and falling ground water levels resulting in serious damage to our forests have shown that it is important for us in Northern Germany to limit our water consumption too, but without reducing the level of comfort.
Waste water: Our waste water is purified by means of a fully organic treatment system and then removed via the runoff ditches. This equipment is very sensitive to sanitary fluids, so please either do not use these at all or only use sanitary fluids which work without any bactericidal additives. Please also help to protect the environment by only using biodegradable detergents and cleaning materials. Please also do not dispose of hygiene products such as sanitary towels, nappies and wet wipes in our toilets.
Electricity: We obtain our electricity exclusively from renewable energy sources. We use energy-saving illuminants and presence detectors.
Hot water and heating: We converted the complete heating system to a wood pellet heating system in order to achieve a neutral CO2 balance. It is an optimal type of energy, not least because of the proximity of the raw material source for environmental protection. We mainly use the waste heat from a nearby combined heat and power plant, which is used to produce electricity from biogas.
Waste separation: As the dumping of waste is no longer permitted in Germany, we ask you to help us in avoiding and sorting waste. Our campsite will do everything possible to reduce environmental pollution and avoid cost increases in this area for you as our visitors.
Nordseecamping is a member of Ecocamping. You can find information about the work of Ecocamping at Reception or on the Internet: www.ecocamping.net.
The following measures have already been implemented:
Waste separation in the recycling yard
Fully biological waste water treatment system
Washbasin and shower fittings, which turn off automatically
Light control via presence detector
Heating with the waste heat of the biogas plant
The use of solar energy equipment
